This work is even today one of the most important sources of classical mythology. He is counted among such great poets as Virgil and Horace. They were his older contemporaries. Ovid was a very popular figure during the reign of Augustus. However, Augustus exiled him to a remote province in the Black Sea, where he breathed his last. He also wrote prose and a tragedy as well. He was not only a good poet and writer, but also a very good orator. He would often get involved in discussions with his friends and disciples. His speeches used to attract a large number of followers. Several of his lines from his speeches, poems, and prose are now known quotations. This book includes hundreds of such enlightening thoughts.
