"Blood Wedding" by Spanish dramatist Federico Garcia Lorca was written in 1932. In Spanish the book was titled "Bodas de Sangre."

The book was first published in Madrid in March 1933. Later that year, it was published in Buenos Aires.

The author continued to maintain a lifelong interest in the music and culture of rural Spain. He was highly influenced by both these interests. "Blood Wedding" is said to be the author's most acclaimed tragedy.

The play "Blood Wedding" is said to have been inspired by a real life incident. It is said that Lorca had read about a sensational crime in the Madrid daily ABC in 1928.
