Quirky Cat
Summary:
In this world, hunters are known to be the best of the best. They hunt down treasures and magical beasts, making names for themselves left and right. Unfortunately, not just anyone can become a hunter. You have to get a license first, and since everyone wants to be one...well, the competition is fierce.
Despite the odds, Gon and his friends want to become hunters. In truth, Gon would go through almost any trial to become a hunter – including facing protests from his family. This is his destiny.
Review:
I've heard a lot about Hunter x Hunter Vol. 1 over the years – and boy, this series is older than I realized! Whoops. Anyway, I'm not entirely sure that this series met my expectations. And I do feel bad saying that.
Perhaps it is just the mood I was in at the time. Or maybe it's because I took so long to give it a go. Either way, I just couldn't get invested in Gon's story or even the world. I kept finding my mind wandering, no matter how hard I tried to focus.
I don't want to trash the series, though. I can see the bones of potential in Hunter x Hunter Vol. 1. It could be that the pace and story pick up steadily after this introductory period. Maybe I'll come back around and give it another try sometime.
Will I Read the Rest of the Series: No
