This was alright, bit too short for any real character or plot development - but fluffy feels abound. I liked the characters, Amelia and Dante and the banter was amusing. 3 stars.
I know it's kind of deceitful and wrong but I kind of love stories when twins switch places. This was a cute story that did the switcheroo genre justice. There's a good twin and a naughty twin, a hero too smart and a connection that meant it was easier to forgive the tricksters.
Switch Hitter was short but sweet and I enjoyed it. The characters were interesting, the storyline moved well and the sizzling tension jumped off the pages. Definitely worth the $1.00.
I never wanted a full-on standalone until I read Switch Hitter. I remember reading Switch Hitter in the Team Player anthology, every single story in that anthology made me wish so hard for full books of each story. Sara Ney definitely knows how to about the jocks, but Dash is the last guy to be defined as a d-bag. He's such the opposite of that and it was quite refreshing after reading her Douchebag series, although we all loved the mushy loved obsessed men they've turned into.
I thought the concept of the twin swap was just messed up and a bit of I can't believe they're doing that. You can't be messing with people's emotions. But once you get wind of how Dash really feels about Lucy, Amelia's twin, you just muck it up to old fashion college dating. Plus, Lucy is so shallow and goes through casually dating like it's nothing. But I pass no judgment, she's very open and honest about it when it comes to the guys she date. It's not like she hides it or anything, so I can't fault her for that even though it's something I would never do.
Lucy and Amelia are so completely different, Amelia definitely doesn't agree with her sister's ways, but in the end, family is family, Lucy will always be her sister. Despite everyone's annoyances with Lucy, she pulled a solid for her sister.
And sweet, sweet Dante! He's just a real gentleman and I must one of the most observant dudes I've read about in a book. Bravo, sir! He notices everything about Amelia, even when he didn't know it was her and not Lucy. He was able to pick up on a lot of things that were different about the Lucy he first met and the "Lucy" that Amelia was pretending to be.
Gosh, I wish I had more of their story, but I can't wait to see more of them in Sara's new Jockrow series. It's a solid 4 stars because I wish it was a longer read … Sara, you write addicting characters!
