After suffering the losses of first his parents, then his grandparents during his childhood, then moving from Detroit to New York City, Jonah Sadler is introduced to, and becomes involved in, a world of criminal activity, leading to his incarceration at age fifteen. While serving time upstate he starts to think seriously about his future, and finds God, which ultimately leads him into the ministry.
