The world is lush and J.D. Estrada has done his homework. His biblical and supernatural references delve deeply to create an interconnected world of angels and demons interacting with vampires and goblins.
The globe-hopping nature of the story gives vivid descriptions to make me feel like I was traveling across Europe and the Middle East.
Nathaniel Runnels is a great point of view character, being the only human surrounded by these awesome displays of power. He grounds the story in a way which makes it relatable, interesting, and more than just epic forces clashing in the battle of good and evil.
This book is long, but it does not feel overly burdensome. The pace flows well, with alternating action and introspective moments.
There are deep questions being asked about the nature of life and love, which mold and reform across the story.
These are my opinions, but at the end of the day, I am only human.
