Set in Southern England and based on actual events that took place in the summer of 1986, three young people, Dave, a former heroin dealer who is sick of his lifestyle, Sarah, a seventeen year old girl who has been on the road for three months and Roz, who is running away from her homicidal boyfriend meet by chance and end up traveling together in an old pick-up. Along the way they met up with a variety of ageing hippies, travelers and mystics as they try to avoid the encroaching arm of the law. As much a critique of Thatcher's Britain as a vision of a lost rural world and a lament for both for the people who once lived there and for the New Agers who sought to emulate them. Over them all stand the ancient Celtic monuments of Southern England, communicating both a sense of dark mystery and the threat of looming violence.
