Oh man, it has been a long time since I've read from this series and decided to jump back in it with Quintus's book. I generally don't read a lot of erotica, but Kym Grosso manages to write this genre so well where it doesn't seem like there steamy scenes on every single page. Of course, those scenes were absolutely hot, but I really enjoyed Quintus and Gabriella's story.
Since it has been so long it was like I just jumped into this series for the first time, so there were a lot of new to me characters, definitely ones that I want to go back and read about. I'm sure that would have enhanced my reading a bit more, but this was totally fine to read as a standalone. Their relationship was so fascinating and different than other PNR couples I've read about especially when it comes to shifters. In this case we have a vampire and witch/wolf-shifter, talk about unique in every way. Definitely, the first time coming across a couple like these two. I found their relationship so interesting and was even more captivated by their instant bond and well that they were mates! An unlikely pair that worked so perfectly. Quintus quickly became so protective of Gabriella and wanted nothing more than to keep her safe. Which was hard for Gabriella to accept since she's been on the run for way too long; running is what she knows. And she manages to give the slip to the almighty and powerful, Quintus. Quite hilarious if you ask me!
My heart broke for Gabriella and everything she has had to endure since she was a teenager. She has been on the run since 13 and running into Quintus (and saving him) was the best thing that could have happened to her. In desperate need of help, which Quintus gave unwillingly, there was the instant chemistry that neither one of them could deny.
I loved how fast pace their story was and found myself nearly reading the whole thing in one sitting. And Quintus is probably the most interesting vampire I've ever read about. He misses parts of his human life, so I loved his need for food even if he didn't need it to survive. These two couldn't be more perfect for each other.
Grosso does an amazing job keeping us captivated with her writing! I definitely can't wait for the next one to come out, that'll definitely be a great one to read about!
