Ripe Chokecherry Moon is A love story, rich in the pagentry of the fur trade era. It is a story of a family connected by murder, revenge and passion, but mainly this is the story about two people from two different worlds who find love in the Minnesota territory in early l800's. The novel explores the life of the independent trader, Francois Benoit and Merewyn MacKenna, kidnapped heiress to MacKenna Furs. It also deals with the fur trade wars between Hudson Bay, North West and American Fur, and it explores American Indian lore. Secondary characters, Jean Batiste, Joseph and Poor Eyes, bring humor to the Minnesota wilderness.
