Quirky Cat
Summary:
Maomao spent the earliest parts of her life training in herbal medicine. She had a path in life that she loved. Unfortunately, that was all ripped away from her when she was captured and sold to the inner palace.
Now, Maomao is a poison taster, and that has put her in a unique situation. Slowly, she's earning a reputation for herself – whether she means to or not. On the bright side, all of the drama has given her the perfect excuse to visit home for the first time since she got taken.
Review:
Has it really only been three volumes? I feel like I've been reading so much of The Apothecary Diaries! To be clear – I'm not complaining. I'm thrilled that I have so much more to go through as I've come to love the series.
The Apothecary Diaries Vol. 3 felt like a bit of a deviation from the previous format – mostly because of Maomao's adventure home. That said, she obviously finds herself in a situation where her talents are needed. More importantly, this situation was perfect for us to learn a bit more about her and her childhood finally.
There are a lot of subtle hints and tidbits in The Apothecary Diaries Vol. 3. It's great for eagle-eyed fans. There are implications here and there, as characters react in the background and in other ways. It's a lot of fun.
All things said and done, I loved The Apothecary Diaries Vol. 3 and already can't wait to get my hands on the next volume.
