Captain Brassbound's Conversion (1900) is a play by G. Bernard Shaw. It was published in Shaw's 1901 collection Three Plays for Puritans (together with Caesar and Cleopatra and The Devil's Disciple). The first American production of the play starred Ellen Terry in 1907.---George Bernard Shaw besides being a music and drama critic, was the most famous Irish playwright. He was born in Dublin in a protestant family, George Bernard Shaw got a wide literary and musical culture.

Having endeavoured vainly to publish five novels, George Bernard Shaw took an interest since 1892 in theatre for which he wrote more than fifty plays. He used a style where his humorous liveliness, which was better shown to advantage, did with him an uncontested master of the English theatre. In his first plays, very committed but not very often played, George Bernard Shaw criticized the social abuses. ---

In this series we are presenting some of his all time best plays.
