Fast forward to present day.
Henry Arnaught lives in a two bit town called Two Notch. When Old Kelly, the town rector, gets word that marauders are on their way, she selects 11 year old Henry and 8 year old Doreen, a mute/barren simple minded girl, to go and get Abel Decker, who is supposed to be the Devil Incarnate, to defend the town.
Thats when the story gets interesting. The children met up with (and in no particular order): religious freaks, cannibals, a whore and a gentle bear who eats human flesh.
I liked this book because it was very tongue in cheek. From the western theme to the way the children recruit Able to the ending, I was laughing out loud. Probably not what the author wanted but oh well.
Will I read this book again: Absolutely
Will I recommend this book to family and friends: Yes but on the condition that they like these types of books and that they have a sense of humor.
