I first have to say that I was pleasantly surprised on how much I enjoyed this book. It was extremely well written and I believe sends an important message around knowing when to step away from an abusive situation.
The story is about 4 people thrown together in what can only be described as an extremely difficult circumstances. Tara believed that her husband Tom was loyal and loving. As she prepares for them to go on a cruise to celebrate their 5 year anniversary, she gets devastating news that Tom was involved in a car accident and is a coma, and he is in another state not where she thought he was going to be.
Elizabeth has been married for 10 years and is pregnant with her first baby after years of trying to conceive. She is shocked to learn that her husband is in a coma after being in a very serious car accident.
Tom has been leading a double life for years and it all comes together when he and his best friend and boss Brad are involved in a car accident. While Tom is in a coma his secrets start to unravel and the truth on how he treated the people in his life starts to take a different light as the women in his life start to see the abuse they endured. There is much more to the story which I don't want to spoil just trust me when I say I was surprised.
The story is extremely well written, and is mostly told from Tara's POV. The author takes us through the different stages of her denial and grief and ultimately shows how Tara becomes a better mom and finds true love again. There are some very dark points to the story but its necessary since this is covers dark subject matters but its also about a mothers love which I found inspirational.
