1. Amy’s character. She came from horrible circumstances and rose above it. She had an inner strength that I don’t see in 90% of people in real life. And that’s sad when I compare a fictional character to real life and real life comes up lacking.
2. Lucas’s character: Again, another strong character and man did he fight falling in love. I loved reading the scenes with Amy and Lucas together because the sparks came right off the page. The sexual tension (and when they had sex) was great!!! A must have in a romance novel.
3. The backstories. They were introduced in such a way that you couldn’t help but like them and you want to know more about them.
What I didn’t like about The Billionaire Wins the Game:
1. As much as I loved Amy’s character, her extreme stubbornness got to me. There were some points in the book where I wanted to reach through and bitch slap here. Example: When Lucas forced Amy into his car to give her a ride home and she gave him the wrong address. Which wouldn’t have been bad but she lived in the ghetto and it was the middle of the night.
2. The whole “I got you pregnant so I have to marry you because I don’t want the child born out of wedlock and be a bastard” bit. It’s not Victorian England and not being married and having kids are the norm right now. A forced wedding (and when I mean forced, Lucas implied that he would take the baby from Amy) is not cool.
**I voluntarily reviewed this book**
