It's the turn of the 20th century and the 'Butcher of the Garden Cafes' is on the prowl for loose young women. Florence has no family and works as a maid. Her only friend - and surrogate family - is her fellow maid, fun-loving Agatha. When Florence loses her friend to what she witnessed as murder but others only see as suicide, she decides to take matters into her own hands.
