Book two has Josh and his friend Ester doing more traveling through the pages of history, This time Josh is wanting to find about whether there is really a God out there somewhere. As he deals with a hostile basketball coach/science teacher who teaches only about Darwinism, his friend Ester who he'd like to date but is too shy to ask her out, and his mother's failing health, leads to a hard beginning of the new school year for Josh. There are many ideas brought out in this book that makes you think about life, and what's really out there in the universe. The story sometimes slows down while Josh and his friends are in the Loom, but be patient as truths are revealed to them.
Josh and his friends ban together to find out the truth, expose illegal things happening at the school and support one another through painful family happenings. This is a book that parents and teens will read and then want to discuss about later. Emergence is a great blend of history, action and scientific thought.
