I'm pretty much a total sucker for Romances involving teachers, tutors, and the like. The Lady's Tutor was no exception. Elizabeth's husband has not come to her bed since the night she conceived their second son. He's eleven years old! She can't stand being alone anymore, so she visits Ramiel, whose reputation proceeds him. Elizabeth hopes that Ramiel can teach her how to please a man and entice her husband back to her bed rather than his mistress'. Ramiel is drawn to Elizabeth in a way that he hasn't been to any woman before, and soon wants her to act out their lessons on him.

I really enjoyed The Lady's Tutor. The language used is totally awkward and laughable in places, but different times and all that. Ramiel is using a book published in the sixteenth century as their "textbook" so of course there's going to be some outdated terms and phrases. But in spite of that, I was completely hooked! Elizabeth is an eager student and takes the most embarrassing notes ever! There's nothing that those two don't cover! Too bad everything Elizabeth learns is a total waste when it comes to her husband.

The Lady's Tutor does have a bit of a mystery and suspense plot as well. Ramiel sends spies to follow Elizabeth's husband to find out who his mistress is, which comes as a total shock to every one. Really, I did not see that one coming at all! There's also the matter of Elizabeth's husband not being too happy about her association with Ramiel. Not to mention her voicing her unhappiness about their marriage. He does some pretty despicable stuff to her, and her parents are no better! Things get quite intense toward the end.

I can certainly see how The Lady's Tutor ended up on the list of 100 Swoon Worthy Romances. I loved Elizabeth and Ramiel together. She starts out looking for passion and pleasure, but winds up finding what she really needed: love. Ramiel has been hiding from his past and just needs to same thing.
