If you are looking for light, campy, and racy, Blue Balls is the book for you! Sarah and Jack have been mounting attraction for each other for a year while their best friends' relationship develop. Now they are both single and ready to find some sexual release!
To say Sarah is blunt about what she wants in the bedroom would be too mild a description. I am all for a female speaking up about her sexual desire, but Sarah went a bit far. It just became a bit eye-roll inducing after a while. Jack was delightful though! I loved him in the previous book, Clam Jam, so I was thrilled to get more of him! I did love that while they REALLY wanted to have sex, they kept getting blocked. It forced them to get to know each other, and despite Sarah's determination to not be in a relationship, they start to become more than attempted sex buddies. However, much like my thoughts on the previous book, I felt it drug on too long. While I enjoyed seeing these two spend time together and get to know each other, their inability to seal the deal got a bit unbelievable after awhile. Now, you could see the ultimate conflict (aside from the obvious 'blue balls') coming a mile away, so no surprises there.
In the end, Blue Balls is funny and light, predictable and romantic, and ultimately a good pick if you want romcom. While I found Sarah a bit too immature for my taste, I am getting old, so it is probably just me that feels that way. Jack was wonderful though and ultimately, their love story was satisfying! I will say that I think RC Boldt's contemporary romance with former military heroes are more my style. If you haven't checked out her other books, I recommend looking into those if you, like me, are old. (seriously-I am beginning to think I am just too old for some types of humor any more!)
