Aromatherapy is a new theory and practice guide for aromatherapy by Louise Robinson. Due out 12th Jan 2021 from Penguin Random House on their DK imprint, it's 144 pages and will be available in hardcover and ebook formats.
This is a well written, accessible, and fairly systematic treatment of the subject matter. Graphically, it's an appealing book with lots of line drawings, and a clean art style and layout. The text is easy to understand. The introductory sections cover getting started, what aromatherapy is, tools and supplies, making your own blends, some safety and handling tips, and general information. The following chapters include instructions for using essential oils safely in massage, compresses, creams lotions & gels, balms, etc. The third section contains specific blends for various applications: well being and healing blends. The author has included a resource links list (heavily slanted to readers in North America), an index, and an oils list with indications and contraindications for specific uses.
Graphically the whole book has a very relaxing feel and lots of line art illustrations and pastel colorways which appealed to me.
Four stars. Illuminating, useful and worthwhile.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
