Since "Jazz" basically explores the society and its people, the novel can well fall in the cannon of a literary movement called "Postmodernism."
There is a very unique kind of lyricism in "Jazz" and it is highly appreciated by both reviewers and literary critics. As the novel proceeds, we come across several points where the prose becomes a song or a poem, and then it eventually goes back to its original form.
