The book tells the tale of a young panda who would rather climb trees than eat. While his mother takes a nap, he wanders off and encounters a hungry leopard. He calls for help, but even his mother's threats do not drive the leopard away. The panda climbs higher and higher, luring the leopard out on a thin branch that cracks under its weight. The leopard falls, hurts itself, and slinks away in shame. The mother panda is so relieved to have her son safe that she cannot even scold him. Throughout the story and following it are fascinating facts about the lives of pandas and their cousins. Also included is a game page that will delight young naturalists. This wonderful nature book with its inviting illustrations is both fun and educational, and children will want to own all the books in the series.
