The Nubbler arrives in Rufus' room when Rufus is at his most miserable, after overhearing yet another row between his parents. The Nubbler is a friendly little creature, not unlike a dragon, who has come to help Rufus along for a bit, and little by little Rufus learns how to cope.
Pam Ayres writes with enormous charm and skill, and THE NUBBLER is a very easy and enjoyable read that will comfort children who are experiencing the anxiety of their parents divorcing, and show them how to deal with the experience.
