Elsie at Home by Martha Finley was written in the mid nineteenth century. The author wrote altogether twenty eight Elsie books and most of them retained most of the major characters.
There are many characters in this book and it is sometimes difficult for the readers to keep track of the characters. Most of the time the characters in the story try to be nice to each other and they often quote passages from the scripture. The reasoning between the daughter and her father over the issue of her marriage is quite impressive, the daughter trying to avoid the issue of marriage. The daughter does not want to leave the house of her father. The events take place in a very rapid succession but the daughter's story continues to flow at a slow pace. If you rejoice in literature and society this is the book for you.
