I usually usually rate each book I read but I decided to make an exception for Gay Girl, Good Girl. Given that I fall outside of the LGBTQ+ community, and because I'm still searching for answers myself in terms of understanding Christian theology vis-à-vis sexual orientation, I didn't think it's my place to make a judgement call in terms of rating Gay Girl, Good God. Because let's face it, 5 stars is as good as agreeing with Perry's views and 1 star is an outright opposition.
In any case, this is such a well-written and intensely personal memoir that regardless of whether or not anyone subscribes to Perry's views, it'd be a shame to ignore the literary merits.
