Greed was one of my most anticipated reads ever since I read Vain, the first in the series, which I loved to pieces. And I'm happy to report - it didn't disappoint!

Greed had the same charm Vain had - clashing two completely different life styles, the first rich, glamorous, cold and... empty, and the second hardworking, getting-by-by-the-day, fulfilling and oh so very warm. In the first book we got to experience life in Uganda, here we're experiencing life as ranch-workers. It feels very real and puts you right there. Also - I finally get the horses on the cover!! LOL

Let's talk characters - our main character is Spencer. Amelie doesn't lie to you when she tells you in the blurb: "My story will not endear me to you". At least, she doesn't lie at first, because the Spencer of the first 70 pages or so was one that got on my nerves. I just wanted him to snap out of it already, because Amelie's genius is giving you a main character that is flawed and, at the beginning, disgusting. But she also gives you a main character that is not bad at his core. A main character that wants out, knows what he does is wrong, but can't seem to stop himself. And when he is finally forced to leave the poisonous environment he exists in, forced to work hard for his food, his money and for love, he doesn't fight it. He embraces it, becomes a different and better person. And that's a beautiful journey to go through with him, and one that will surely make you love him.
