Dorcas and Ambrose are back with their unconventional attempts at matchmaking! In Wild & Hexy we're reintroduced to Jeremy, Big Knob's resident computer genius, and we get to meet Annie who was briefly mentioned in the previous book. Jeremy has just opened up his internet cafe and Annie has returned to her home town for his sister's wedding. She was Miss Popular in high school while Jeremy was a total geek, but she's finally willing to give him the time of day. Maybe it's because she thinks he's a magician in training and gives her a story for her column? Meanwhile, Dorcas and Ambrose have another little problem involving a magical creature in town.

I didn't enjoy Wild & Hexy quite as much as Over Hexed for one main reason: Annie. She's been living in Chicago for several years where she's been married, divorced, lost her job, and found 20 extra pounds. Of course she spends quite a bit of time complaining about her weight and starving herself despite many genuine compliments from her mom and Jeremy. Sure her bride's maid dress didn't fit, but that can be fixed. I did not like how she refused food for most of the book and was trying to get skinny and reclaim her high school body. According to everyone, she wasn't even fat, and looked healthier with the added weight. There's nothing wrong with wanting to shed some weight, but Annie was going about it the wrong way and for all of the wrong reasons. It just frustrated me.

I did like Dorcas and Ambrose's plot better in this one though. I thought the addition of the lonely lake monster, Dee Dee, was super fun and cute! She also adds some complications for the quirky witch couple as well as for Annie, who accidentally catches a glimpse of her and now wants to be the one to break the story and skyrocket her career. George the ADD dragon also makes an appearance, and I still didn't really care about him, although he is making progress. We also meet a new witch named Isadora, who is quite a character! I just wish she had had a slightly bigger role, since seems to be a trouble maker.

In the end, Wild & Hexy was another quick and fun read, but I was just annoyed with the heroine. I adored Jeremy and liked seeing him act more confident and taking charge in the relationship. There are of course several sexy scenes, and some of them are quite funny too. However, overall this one didn't have the same level of humor throughout that I've come to expect from this author.
