Born into a world dominated by social division, fake news and mistrust, feuding brothers Magnus and Nick live on an island divided by suspicion. Someone, or something, is on a killing spree, and the community on the island, who are so fuelled by myth and legend, are no closer to finding any clues.

The family's past in nineteenth-century India and the atrocities of the Mutiny of 1857 reveals a curse that has doomed the family to misery. But has their tainted bloodline conjured up a monster?

Jasmin, a young academic, arrives on the island and with more being killed each day, she seeks to uncover a long-hidden journal that could hold all the answers. With a storm closing in and a violent sea bordering the island, the two brothers must learn the truth before it's too late...

Vicki Lloyd lives in Oxford and has a degree in Latin and English from the University of Kent and a Masters in Creative Writing from Oxford Brookes University. Throughout her career, she has worked as an archaeologist, journalist, copy editor, playwright and short-story writer.
