I watched the first season of the anime last year and really enjoyed it, and I'm finally getting around to trying out the manga and so far it's just as solid (no surprise there).

I do know where the story is going assuming the anime stayed close to the source material, but it is honestly just as much fun to read it again as it was to watch it. Kakuriyo is such a lively place filled with intriguing ayakashi and youkai, all of which we get a taste of in volume one. Aoi is such a fantastic main character. She is resilient and independent, capable of taking care of herself, and speak up for herself despite resistance she might meet. I love that she isn't a pushover and doesn't just accept the path someone sets in front of her. To top it off Genji is such a sweet character, and provides some very light-hearted moments during Aoi's turbulent first few nights.

As I said before I'm really looking forward to continuing on with the manga, and hopefully switch from the digital releases over to physicals now that I feel confident that the quality is the same.
