Look, Surviving Love wasn't bad, it was just that little bit too sugary for me. Considering the main characters were both over 30, they just came across as immature and inexperienced. Sara is getting over being dumped by her fiance for a younger version of herself. Her confidence is really low and she decides that her best course of action is to sell up, get rid of her skuz bucket ex's debt and start over. Her dream is to move to Montana, so she gets a summer job at a ranch. When she gets there she sees her best friend from childhood, Mikey. The sexy survival specialist, has made a name for himself doing a job he enjoys. When he sees Sara and realises his childhood devotion has matured to real adult feelings, he is determined to help her recover from her heartbreak and move on with him.
Sara is a watering pot. This chick cries constantly in the first half of the story. TBH, I don't understand how and why she was in love with her ex. She did everything and he did nothing in their relationship. She was so depressed after the break up and feels unlovable. When she sees Mikey she's stoked to see him but automatically puts him on the friend shelf.
Mikey is sweet...I mean really, really sweet. If he didn't have a macho man job and a previous career in macho man world, I'd think he was too sweet. He knows what he wants and spends the whole book convincing Sara to take a chance on him.
The story was a little predictable and I guessed where the author was heading almost straight away. There are a few references to God and his guidance. I'm not a huge fan of reading about God in my smutty reads. A few things drove me a little bonkers as I was reading, but I managed to go on and somewhat enjoy it.
There is a little drama, a little heat, some great friendship and a sweet story about two kids who grow up and manage to reconnect. Not my favourite read by this author, but still entertaining enough to keep my interest.
