This picture book tells the story of Impo, the worn-out old school bus. One day he goes on a mystery trip and on a particularly steep hill he breaks down. Impo is taken to the scrapyard where the children sadly see him as they pass in a borrowed bus. Then Beryl comes by in her tow-truck and takes Impo back to her garage, where he is turned into a hot rod mean machine. Once again Impo can take the children on their trips and he has pride of place at school. Jon Blake's previous titles include "Daley B", "The Hell Hound of Tooley Street", "Geoffrey's First", "Holiday in Happy Street" and "The King of Rock and Roll". Arthur Robins has also illustrated "Little Rabbit Foo Foo", "I Know an Old Lady", "The Magic Bicycle" and "The Finger Eater".
