One short story in this collection inspired the movie Arrival, which I greatly enjoyed, but this book us far more than that.

I found nearly all of these stories thought provoking. It took me so long to read it because I was savoring the different worlds that Ted Chiang created in these stories.

I often do like like short stories because they don't give me a complete story, just a glimpse into a life. But these stories feel complete, though they are rarely finished in a cut and dry manner. Chiang leaves enough up to the reader for them to fill in any blanks in the stories he's created.

So when I saw the previews for Arrival, I wanted to read the book. I found the book and realized that it's actually a book of short stories, and not a book based only on the movie Arrival.

Nevertheless, I bought the book and began reading it. I don't regret it. The stories are very well written and keep you entertained. You want to keep reading because you get anxious to see how the story ends. However, these stories are very complex for my level of intelligence. I dont understand physics, mathematics and basically science. Those suits are not my forte. So, why did I give it a four star, well because just because I don't understand how the world of science and universe works doesn't mean that you have to give it a bad rating.
