If I thought that this Saga couldn't get better than New Moon, I was wrong. This book took the Vampire world of Twilight, and the La Push world from New Moon, and weaved them together perfectly. I loved the way Bella was being tossed around having to choose between these two wonderful families, and the way her 'Supernatural creatures' clashed over her. Jacob was heartbreaking, but you couldn't stay mad at Edward, and of course Alice and Jasper! Beautiful book all around.

Bella just gets more annoying every book. Not only does she think that Edward is the best and most innocent person in the world (he isn't even human), she seems to think that him leaving her is terribly romantic! What?! The story just loses al it's credibility at that point. She doesn't even get a little bit mad at him (I would give him hell). And she wants to throw her whole life away, but she doesn't want to marry him? Huh? Maybe it has to do something with her crazy aversion to anybody taking notice of her. Talk about insecurity.

It's supposed to be really romantic and stuff, but I don't really see true affection between Edward and Bella.

With Jacob, on the other side... Oh, that werewolf makes my day. Although I don't really get how someone could fall in love with that Bella-girl, but he makes it seem so believable. I would have stopped reading the book and put it away if it wasn't for him. I've gotten myself a little werewolf crush *blushes*. So Jacob, those three stars are for you, and not those dreadful bloodsuckers!

I find this whole series very bland and kind of stupid, yet I've read them all because I hate leaving a short series unfinished. I find Bella's dependence on Edward unhealthy, I understand love and how you never want to face the prospect of loosing someone but this series tends to make it all very...childish. Not surprisingly I barely remember what happened in this particular book...

This is probably my least favorite of the four books, but the details in it are definitely necessary for the story as a whole. I'm not quite to the halfway point of book four, and I just love the "story" in this saga. I do not know that I have ever read such long books so quickly, but my attention is caught and rapt and Stephenie never lets it go. I truly am "thirsting" for more.

I woke up at 5:46am. I was really awake and pretty sure I couldn't coax myself back to sleep and it seemed like a perfect time to finish reading Eclipse.

I liked the second half of this book much better than the first. The first half was a perfect example of Stephanie Meyer's unnecessary lengthiness. The primary struggle was Bella being conflicted about her relationship with both Edward and Jacob, their conflict and the uneasy peace they created for her and the set up that someone is still after her. That could have been very neatly accomplished in 3 chapters, not 17 (I know, I tend to exaggerate).

And it was also desperately obvious. Really, the werewolves and vampires or going to form an alliance and fight together? no idea.
Really, Victoria is the one forming an army in Seattle to get to Bella? not a clue. I was incredibly disappointed that the Cullens couldn't figure that out, nor did they realize that the stolen clothes and mysterious visitor were connected to both Victoria and the army in Seattle. It was such a shock to everyone and came so late in the book, but really it was desperately obvious from the first headline Charlie read in the first chapter. She went to all that work to set up and remind us that Victoria had a personal vendetta against Bella. Who else would be targeting Bella? If she let her characters be as smart as her audience that would have cut out another 4 chapters right there.

All that being said, the second half was good. I really liked Edward and Bella negotiating and comprising on the whole proposal idea. And I loved Jacob and Edward talking in the tent. I like how honest these characters are with each other. There's no lying or hiding feelings or that sort of convoluted messiness. The truth can be messy enough without all that. So, I pretty much liked every conversation in the last third of the book: Edward and Bella and Jacob and Bella and Jacob and Edward. It all worked really well and I enjoyed it.

I was a little confused, at first, by the epilogue. She's written the whole thing from Bella's first person, so even though Leah is saying "Jacob" since it was written in the first person I just thought somehow she was still talking to Bella and Jacob was there but then I kept reading and couldn't find him in the scene and was really confused until I went back and started again, realizing it was Jacob's first person. but that was probably just me.

Literally, as soon as I put down New Moon I picked up Eclipse, I have just fallen head over heels in love with this series. This book while it still had the werewolf/vampire action it seemed more focused on the Bella/Edward romance, which is fine by me, I'm a sucker for it. it's so cute how old fashioned Edward is, although he was alive in the early 1900s...Their relationship really advanced in Eclipse, sex is discussed and there is also an engagement.

I didn't like this book. And not because it wasn't well written or that. It was once again because of the story. But so much worse than New Moon. Edward wedged his way back into Bella's life but it drove me mad how easily she takes him back. And then shoves Jacob away. That frustrated me further. But I also didn't like the new Jacob much either - he was very old and sly.

One thing I really hated was the fact that Edward was so intent on not giving anything to Bella. In particular sex. I was so upset by that. Probably more so than Bella herself because it's like he goes away and comes back and he won't even give her himself. Something I tolerated in Twilight I found really hard to in this one after all he did.

The fact that the werewolves and vampires couldn't think to work together was also pretty stupid. I was just frustrated in general with this. And really upset with the whole situation between Jacob and Edward. It annoys me that Edward can't give her what she needs - i.e. being warm. It annoys me that Jacob doesn't want to be her friend even though that's all she wants.

But Meyer writes well. And once again, I'm drawn into the story. On a positive note, Alice is a wonderful character who's full of life. And so is Emmett and I loved that we got more of an insight to Rosalie and Jasper. Because they're all awesome. And I loved the fight scene with Edward and the werewolf killing Victoria and that. That was cool. So yeah. Top marks for all the good stuff but it's not enough to make up for the rest of it.
