This was a good book and would have received 4 stars if it hadn't been for one scene. That scene, towards the end is out of place and unnecessarily barbaric and unsavoury and ruined the book for it.

The characters were good, I loved the three sisters and their guards and Trevain, while I liked him less, was well written. I was a bit upset that Callder didn't feature more though.

The world was well written although more about the underwater city would have been good. I did like the different places that were visited.
