Bitter Fame looks at the dark side of celebrity: those who desperately seek fame and those who unwittingly find themselves in the limelight. Web designer, Ellen Davies buys a house that was owned by Carla James, a TV personality and favourite with the paparazzi. The name means nothing to Ellen but she learns fast. After Carla's death, her daughter by late rock star Jim Allen, Angelica, turns up wanting to see her former home. Not knowing who Angelica's guardian is, Ellen turns to one of the more persistent paparazzi, Matt Perryman, who gives Ellen Angelica's guardian's number so the girl can be collected. Ellen promises Angelica that she can come back and visit again. Matt also tries to find out why Ellen doesn't want paparazzi about. He finds out when Ellen's violent ex-boyfriend turns up. A discovery that helps him break out of the paparazzi pack.
