I am such a fan of DJ and this series. DJ was always happy being in the background, and was hoping to return there after quitting football and quieting all that noise that accompanied being the "girl" football player. Then, she found herself "front and center" as colleges were recruiting her for basket ball and new young man was romancing her.
As always, DJ's struggle was honest, and her stream of consciousness confessions were thoughtful and delightful. She had to fight battles in her head and in her heart, and I was really proud of all the growth she made.
Once again, the Schwenk family provided me with lots of warmth and happy feels, because they are so genuine and their affection for each other so real. I am not even going to pretend like those closing comments from DJ about her brother, Win, didn't leave me in tears. It was a really beautiful sentiment she shared with us, and speaks volumes for why I love her so much.
I know I have one more book, a Curtis book, but I know I will miss DJ and her family a lot.
