With the Olympics in Rio about to start, I was excited to get a somewhat of a behind-the-scenes look at what might be happening at the 2016 games.
As a new reporter, Jemma gets t cover the games when her boss, Nick, is injured. With only one major story under her belt, this is most certainly her time to shine. Gabe is an LAPD officer originally from Rio and Nick’s best friend. He is left to protect the young cub reporter for the full three weeks of the Games.
At first, I wasn’t sure how this would all play out. Gabe was so cold to Jemma, but when the heat rose sparks flew. The chemistry soared off the charts and the adventures they had was amazing. While they were having the time of their lives, a particular story of a young female athlete falls into Jemma’s lap. I loved how they worked together to get the story and protect the athlete and themselves at the same time. Of course, no journalist gets a story easily, but Gabe was there for Jemma every step of the way. While she wrote and researched and he protected, they ended up falling hard for each other.
Though this couple hit a few potholes bigger than the worst ones on the streets of Rio, Bolden gave us the happily ever after and a terrific sneak peek into one of the world’s biggest traditions.
