I loved the first book in the Savage Wells series. It was humorous and different from other Proper Romances. The great thing is that you don't have to read The Sheriff of Savage Wells before reading Healing Hearts. I would highly suggest you do read it first because you will meet up with many of those same characters in the second book.


From the beginning of the book you'll fall in love with Gideon and your heart will be with the kind and beautiful Miriam. The interaction and humor shared between these two characters was one of the highlights for me in this novel. Even though there is humor, there are many other serious issues highlighted in the novel such as dementia, epilepsy, and the conditions of asylums in the late 1800's.

With Miriam's big mystery from her past looming in the background, Gideon is slowly falling in love with the quiet, but dedicated Miriam. The many varied personalities that live in the town only help endear this story to the reader. I also really loved Gideon's parents who were rich, but kind and helpful especially to Miriam's plight.

This is another solid novel written by Sarah Eden. Anyone who loves reading a clean romance with wonderful characters and a strong plot will enjoy reading Healing Hearts.
