With so many interior distractions these days, from stacks of homework to video games and personal computers, it's hard to find the time to make your way outside and enjoy the fresh air. Kids today spend more time indoors than they ever have in the past. In fact, parents are finding it increasingly difficult to get their kids to play outside like they did when they were children themselves.
In the past, being outside wasn't always just for fun. In many cases, it was for the good of the household. Not so long ago, when there were considerably more rural areas and less development, more people grew gardens, worked on farms, and tolled in professions that required the bulk of their activity to be performed outdoors.
