It is a fanciful poem composed by Michael Drayton, in hopes of quenching the thirst for fairy lore which was and still is a popular theme of imagination. The stanzas are filled with vibrant depictions of fairy realm. Many of the notable characters make an appearance, all entwined in a little adventure. The poem makes its way through the ethereal details, eventually culminating in a delightful triumph of love. The old English spelling is retained, adding to the charm of this rare classic.
