[The Romantic Comedy Book Club]

Don’t let the Nicholas Spark-ish cover fool you. This book was comedic gold! I really wish a streaming channel would option it as I would love to watch it unfold. I am not kidding when I say I laughed so hard I had to avoid my abs at the gym this morning! The book is a “love triangle” of sorts in terms of humor but truly a friends to lovers romantic comedy. I have never read anything by Van Dyken before and now she is definitely at the top of my must read list. Easily a favorite and worth reading again in the future. I HIGHLY recommend it. It is book #1 of a four book series and I plan on reading the rest.

The Consequence of Loving Colton almost reads like a parody of NA romance, anything that can go wrong goes wrong, there are shenanigans and out there characters, and still, there's some hotness and tension as well.



I think I might have enjoyed The Consequence of Loving Colton more if it had been labeled as a parody, because I'm all for making fun of genres - even my favorite genres. However, this was really out there, and there was no real plot or story, just a whole lot of weird and sometimes very funny situations happening. Between Milo and Colton, there were so many misunderstandings and misconceptions I lost count after the first chapter. It was the epitome of people not talking to each other - especially not about important stuff.

Spanning over just a few short days, The Consequence of Loving Colton was a fast read, but that might have been because I skimmed some parts, too... Milo's clumsiness and everyone around her ending up with black eyes or broken arms might have been fun the first time, the 27th time, a little less.

Written in first person point of view, past tense but peppered with dialogues, The Consequence of Loving Colton is the first in the Consequence series, and some of my favorite bloggers have loved this series - be sure to check out Kristin @ Addicted to Happily Ever After series review for a positive review.



"It's like we're in a musical," Max whispered under his breath. I opened my mouth. He slammed his hand over it. "Break out in song, and I'm going to make you wish I really had gotten you and aloe vera plant."

"The food?" I sniffled, sitting on the bed. "Here." Jenna unloaded a giant basketful of goodies onto the bed. It was like staring at heaven. No, seriously, I wasn't one of those girls who got tiny hunger pangs when it was time to eat, then took a few sips of water, burped, wiped my mouth, and announced I was full.

Fun, light rom-com that made me laugh out loud. The flashbacks though, were very sweet and heartfelt. I had a lot of fun getting to know the insane Caro family and am looking forward to book 2
