When Lydia Glover dies in a car crash high on drugs and alcohol, her insurers become increasingly suspicious and decide to hire the expertise of PI Frank Crane. Lydia's husband Ken Glover is suspected of being involved in the crash but nothing can be proven. A second death, this time of a prostitute with links to Glover, pushes Crane to take desperate measures. He befriends two mysterious women who also appear to be involved in a complex insurance fraud. It proves to be a move so dangerous that it exposes him to the greatest risk he has ever known as the action edges relentlessly to a blood-chilling climax.
