Burma is now known as Myanmar. The Burmese culture is highly rich in religion and folklore. Folk tales are an inevitable part of the Burmese society. Since most of the people in Burma are peasants, they carry on the tradition of orally transmitting these folk tales to the posterity. They are very hard working people and are even today mostly away from the modern technical means of entertainment.

The elders in the society call the young ones to an open place in the evenings and begin telling folk tales which have been continuing in their society for hundreds of years. In this book, some of the most popular of the Burmese folk tales have been presented, and they are definitely going to inform, entertain, and educate the prospective readers.
