The first full novel in this series and it's great fun. Mary Jo got me with her start in the library and kept my interest throughout. Set around the time of the Bonnie Prince Charlie rebellion this is a story of hard choices and trying to keep love alive.

Gwynne Owens is a very strong character and her relationship with Duncan Macrae is great fun. They are married early in the book but don't really know each other well they have to learn all about each other and their powers. I look forward to more in this series, I like the world she has created.
