Can Irene and Joe find out who the killer is?
Irene Holmes
Irene Holmes is the daughter of Sherlock Holmes and some lady. She is basically the female version of Sherlock. Well, except for the use of drugs. Irene is pretty much stubborn and a true Holmes in her deduction ways. I like Irene because she is a bit different from some of the other daughters of Sherlock that I have read. Another thing that I like about her is that she has a good friendship with a Lestrade. Irene is training Joe. The one thing that I dislike about her is that she blames herself for some things that she had no control over.
Doctor Joe Watson
Doctor Joe Watson is a relative to John Watson, I think and was serving his country. He is the Watson to Irene's Holmes in all sorts of the word. Joe is trying to get used to life back as a civilian and is trying to find work. He is now living with Irene and helping her. I like him because he uses his military background to help solve their first case. I like about Joe because he is dealing with trauma from his time in service but isn't letting it halter him. There isn't really anything that I dislike about him.
3 Stars
A Study in Victory Red by Allison Osborne is a good first book for Ms. Osborne. Sadly, I think that doing anything with the famous Holmes and Watson family lineage is always a tricky thing to do. I don't think it was a successful attempt at doing this. I am giving it three stars.
