Magnus is a meerkat who escapes from Edinburgh Zoo to become a treasure hunter. Eager to find El Dorado, Mag jets off to Southern Mexico to find the legendary lost city of gold. On his way he encounters a rat named Bastien, a fellow explorer who has also got his mind set on El Dorado, only for them to find their discovery to be far more unwelcoming than they anticipated. Trapped inside an ancient Mayan temple loaded with booby traps and hostile creatures, the two quarreling rivals find themselves having to work together if they are to escape from Xibalba alive.
