Michael R. Cross grew up in Pasadena, Texas and now resides in Austin. In 1955 at age eight, he lost over 90% of his vision, but remained in public school, eventually earning advanced degrees in mathematics from the University of Houston. Mike interned at NASA, and then had a career as a programmer, retiring after twenty years at IBM.
