Jacob McFadden is a fiction and nonfiction author, jazz trumpeter and composer. He is the author of The Hexatonic Soul Scale: An Alternative to the Blues Scale for the Novice Jazz Improviser, Jermaine and The Cadre. His recent release is Jermaine: The Dawning which is a prequel to his comic book Jermaine but is a short story instead.Jacob's interest in jazz sparked in the 8th grade when he heard the Brackenridge High School Stage Band perform. Later, Jacob got the opportunity to study jazz piano, composing and arranging with legendary jazz pianist Dr. James Polk while attending Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Dr. James Polk was also the former musical director for Ray Charles.After college, Jacob served 7 years in the US Army Band as a trumpeter and later got into writing after studying acting at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, California where he enrolled in the school's screenwriting program. While at the New York Film Academy, Jacob also studied film producing.He is also the founder of the clothing brand Jazz...Improvise At Will and the film production company McFadden Productions. Jacob's dream is to turn his books into movies.
