In 1031, an Arab scientist, a Jewish astronomer and a Christian monk gather under the dome of an observatory in Spain. They learn that a book of knowledge, and a foretelling written on the blade of a knife, will put a ruler on a throne — but who, when, and where? What links the book to a village in Sussex, and the conflict between the houses of Wessex and Godwin?

As the three guardians of the book begin to covet its knowledge for themselves, one of them must carry a secret that goes to the heart of the claim to the throne of England. But can the book be saved from the man who will use it for his own ends?

From Spain to Normandy and England, The Book and the Knife: Thegn of Berewic is the story of a centuries old book of knowledge, of two families locked in a generation—spanning blood feud, and of the struggle for power in England. A story of loyalty and treachery, love and hate.
