In the story, 16-year-old Jun trains and dreams of competing in the Guardian's Tournament, a competition held every six years to determine who will be named the top warrior of West Longhan, worthy of protecting the sacred Scroll of Heaven. With the ambitious General Cobu stoking war with East Longhan, this year's tournament will be especially dangerous and fraught with national consequence, but Jun is eager to prove himself the realm's best martial artist and earn riches and status, even if that means setting aside the slim hopes of healing a childhood wound.
