It’s easy to feel forgettable. Nyx literally is, and the condition seems to be getting worse. Homeless and alone, she's at the end of her rope when she stumbles onto Earth Between, a nexus between worlds. The residents may be magical and alien as hell, but they don’t have any problem remembering she exists.
Though she never intended to become the Guardian of a Waystation between worlds, the gig is pretty simple: act as glorified passport control for the ley lines that connect the planets. But when an illegal traveler slips through her Station, she’s given an ultimatum: apprehend him or lose her new job—and the only place she’s ever belonged.Things start looking up when the illegal traveler turns himself in, until Nyx learns he actually came to Earth looking for her. He thinks his best friend—and coincidentally Nyx’s ex-boyfriend—hid the most powerful object in the universe with her: the Harvester of Worlds. Nyx is determined to sort out this intergalactic mess, even if she has to visit the most dangerous planet in the galaxy and rescue her ex-boyfriend to do it.
Oh, and if she suspects she’s been wearing the Harvester of Worlds as a necklace for the last five years, well, what’s the worst that could come from a power object with a name like that?

Life at Nyx’s Station has been a little tense of late. There are the fugitives she’s hiding, the Harvester of Worlds she still doesn’t know what to do with, and then there’s the ex-boyfriend she’s been avoiding. So when someone from her elusive past shows up in Earth Between, Nyx jumps at the distraction—and the chance to finally get some answers.
The only problem is, her childhood friend Seth has no intention of answering any of those questions. When he portal-jumps to the forbidden Shadow Market, it should be a guaranteed escape from a Station Guardian, but Nyx’s altered bond with her Station means following him is a possibility. One she has every intention of making a reality.

Between trying to figure out why the Kumir have been hunting her friend Seth, searching for a way to destroy the Harvester of Worlds, and getting frustrated by the glacially slow return of her memories, she doesn’t have any time for planet-hopping.
Unfortunately, the universe has other plans. When she’s abducted from Earth Between, Nyx finds herself in the remote reaches of the universe, on planets unconnected to the Station’s ley lines. Her only hope lies in mastering the portal magic she’s only just discovered she has. But even if she can manage its use, does she have enough magic—and determination—to find her way back home?
